The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well.

Acupuncture is one of the most commonly used systems of healing in the world.  It originated over thousands of years ago and uses very small needles inserted into the body at precise locations.

how does it work

There are several theories about how exactly acupuncture works.  Eastern Medicine claims it works by affecting energy (chi) in the body, whereas Western science suggests it may produce endorphins and other chemicals which affect and influence the body in various ways and via numerous body systems.

When practiced by a professional licensed and trained provider acupuncture is a very safe treatment option for patients.  We use cleaning techniques similar to what you would expect in other medical practices and needles are never re-used.

what to expect

Your first visit will start with a comprehensive history to learn about you and your complaint.

If acupuncture is a good option for you, treatment will begin.  Treatment lasts between 15-30 minutes typically.  Depending on your complaint, it may take several visits to achieve the full benefits of acupuncture care.  Some feel relaxed after a session whereas others feel energized.

If someone wishes for good health, one must first ask oneself if he is ready to do away with the reasons for his illness.

Only then is it possible to help him.

No, not really.

Acupuncture needles are sterile, solid, and very small (hair-thin).  They are inserted only a short distance into the body (often about 1/2 a fingernail width.)  Generally there is not even a drop of blood to be seen.  Everyone experiences the treatment differently, however usually there is little to no pain.

Do I have To "Believe" in it

Absolutely Not.

Acupuncture has been used successfully for thousands of years and has been used on animals such as dogs, horses, etc. who did not "believe" in it, yet still received excellent results.

A positive attitude never hurt anything, however rest assured that your treatment will work regardless of your belief.

conditions it may help treat

Lots.  There are acupuncture protocols and treatment points for almost any condition you can think of... however we primarily utilize acupuncture to help manage musculoskeletal issues.  Some patients have benefitted from treatment for stress, anxiety, addictions, allergies, pregnancy, and a vast array of other issues.

The greatest medicine of all is teaching people how not to need it.

our food should be our medicine and our medicine should be our food.
