WHAT IS COLD LASER THERAPY

Cold Laser Therapy, also referred to as Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), is a treatment option which helps promote healing of tissues and chronic pain using a LASER light source.  It is a type of phototherapy designed to repair tissue, reduce pain, help fight inflammation and provide other treatment benefits for patients.

HOW DOES COLD LASER WORK

Lasers stimulate all types of cells including muscle, ligament, cartilage, and nerves to provide benefits.  During treatment a small laser beam is placed over the target area, penetrating to the involved tissue without heating or damaging the skin.  The mitochondria is the primary cell structure influenced, which is then stimulated to increase ATP (energy) production which leads to cell beneficial healing.

laser in use for treatment

The Erchonia EVRL is the specific laser our clinic uses.  It utilizes both violet and red lasers and operates at wavelengths of 405 nm (violet) and at 635 nm (red light).

Our clinic utilizes Erchonia Lasers who are one of the premier companies in the field and who lead the way in research and technology, as well as in providing quality products.

cold laser vs other lasers

Unlike traditional lasers which operate at around 300 watts, cold lasers or LLLT use between 5 and 500 milliwatts.  This means they do not burn the skin or produce pain and therefore the FDA gives them cold laser classification, specifically class II for our laser.

The laser increases both cellular regeneration and cellular communication to help healing.

HOW Are THEY USED FOR RELIEF

As noted, photobiomodulation stimulates all types of cells.  You could think of lasers as being similar to what plants do with sunlight in the utilization of energy.  The light energy from the laser is absorbed by the cell and creates a healing reaction primarily via the mitochondria in which there is an increase in energy (ATP) production which leads to more rapid healing.

are lasers safe

Cold Laser is a non-invasive procedure which is performed in the chiropractic clinic.

Over 2,500 studies have been conducted over the past 50 years in regards to the safety and efficacy of laser therapy.

There is no recovery time and no negative side effects, making it a very attractive, safe, and affordable option.

what can it be helpful for

Lasers may be helpful for a broad range of conditions.

Some of those conditions include lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, plantar fasciitis, general healing as well as acute / chronic pain, acne, and many other conditions.
